Why should I become a subscription member?

Your paid subscription provides unlimited pre-hospital emergency care and transportation services to emergency departments within Cumberland and Dauphin Counties.

Paid subscribers will not be responsible for any outstanding co-pays or deductibles not paid by health insurance for emergency medical services provided by East Pennsboro Emergency Medical Services or ALS services provided by PennState Health Life Lion, LLC.

Public service and treatment/no transport charges will be waived for paid subscriber’s first three occurrences within the membership year.

Will my ambulance subscription follow me?

East Pennsboro Emergency Medical Services reciprocates with many surrounding EMS Agencies within Cumberland and Perry Counties. If you need emergency medical services while visiting a neighboring community, your paid subscription should be honored by most EMS Agencies.

How are we reimbursed for our services?

East Pennsboro Emergency Medical Services will submit a claim to your insurance for transportation services rendered and apply any payments received. If for some reason your insurance denies payment, you will be expected to assist in the appeal process with your insurance.

If insurance benefits are exhausted for some reason, we will write off any remaining balance for paid subscribers.

Public service and treatment/no transport charges are not typically paid by Health Insurance. These charges will be billed directly to person receiving these services.

I have medical insurance, do I need to be a subscription member?

Most insurance companies do not pay 100% of ambulance claims. If your coverage includes a deductible or co-pay, you may be left with a large out-of-pocket expense.

Additionally, paramedic (ALS) intercept is not separately reimbursed by the Medicare program. Paramedic intercept services may be billed directly to the patient.

Your Paid Subscription will Cover these Costly Expenses.

What should I do if my insurance company sends payment directly to me for services provided by East Pennsboro Ambulance Service?

Payments you receive directly from your insurance company should be immediately forwarded to East pennsboro Emergency Medical Services. Failure to do so will result in the immediate termination of this subscription agreement and you will be responsible for payment of all outstanding balances.

What is not covered by this subscription?

  • Alternative methods of non-emergency transportation, such as wheelchair and invalid coach (stretcher) transports, are not covered under this subscription program.
  • Certain non-emergency ambulance transports which may be denied or deemed outside the limits of your insurance coverage.
